Margarita Sames, a Texas socialite created the original Margarita recipe, in 1948. This is according to Cointreau and published in the Houston Chronicle, April 1997.

ORIGINAL MARGARITA
1 part Cointreau
2 parts Tequila
Fresh lime juice
Ice

Mix Cointreau, tequila and lime juice with ice. Stir, strain into a Margarita glass and serve. This is the first "liquid" recipe we have shared! Of course you need the traditional Margarita glasses!
